EVENTS

FLS hosts several annual events each year
Backpack Blessing Sunday. Prior to the start of the school year, FLS hosts a Backpack Blessing Sunday at one of their partner churches. This is a chance for families to bring their students and their backpacks in to receive a blessing from our pastors for the school year ahead. The School Board then typically hosts a Rootbeer Float social following the service for families to get to know each other prior to the start of the school year.

National Lutheran Schools Week. National Lutheran Schools Week provides more than 1,800 preschools, elementary schools and high schools with the public opportunity to proclaim and celebrate God’s work among us in schools of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Typically held in late January every year, this is a fun week full of dress-up days, chapels, school assemblies and more as our students celebrate the week.

FLS Souper Bowl. The Souper Bowl is our annual end to National Lutheran Schools Week. Classes join each other in friendly competition with a variety of soups for our attendees to try. This event is open to the public and is a great way for us to connect with our community and church families.

Marty Party. Marty Party celebrates the Reformation when Martin Luthern nailed the 95 thesis to the doors of the Roman Catholic Church and was fundamental in starting the Protestant Reformation that brought the church’s focus back to God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ. FLS students participate in a variety of activities themed around learning more about the Reformation.

FLS Sundays. FLS hosts four FLS Sundays throughout the school year - two at Peace Lutheran Church and two at Trinity Lutheran Church where our students sing during the service. All families are highly encouraged to attend as this is a way our school gives back to our two partner institutions that support our school through their generous donations and help keep our tuition costs far below the actual cost of educating our students.

Outdoor Chapel. Each spring, FLS hosts an outdoor chapel at Peace Lutheran Church along with Peace Lutheran Preschool. Families are invited to attend and join us for a provided lunch afterwards with their students and other families.

Christmas Service. FLS hosts a traditional Christmas Church Service vs. just a Christmas program, where students tell the birth of Jesus’ Christ through song, scripture and theatrical pieces. Our partner church pastors provide the sermon.

Winterim. Winterim is a day focused on students learning and completing hands-on projects such as wood working, cooking, beading, scrapbooking, welding, painting and more. Parents and community members lead sessions in areas they are passionate about to share their skills and crafts with our student body.

FLS Gala. The gala is an annual fundraising evening with a live and silent auction, dinner and program with the goal of raising funds towards a dedicated capital project or campaign each year. Past fundraising included new curtains for the stage, updated security equipment, school cleaning and funds towards the capital gymnasium repairs.

FLS Golf Event. FLS holds a golf tournament, typically every fall, to help raise funds used towards field trips each year. Teams are encouraged to sign up to play or sponsor a hole.
